KWS Alpha community initiatives
KWS Alpha is regularly involved with local and national charity organisations and good causes. We actively look for opportunities to engage with the local community and contribute to and organise charitable events regularly. Here are just some of the organisations we have helped…
The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is a UK-wide charity that provides help and support to thousands of people with cystic fibrosis, and their families. On 6th/7th August 2011, six of KWS Alpha's team embarked on a 130 mile cycle from Lurgan to Londonderry, on behalf of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. The whole staff of KWS Alpha provided support, with other members of the team preceding the riders, drumming up support and collecting money for the Trust. The team made £5000 for the CfT and will continue to support the organisation in future.
Action Cancer is Northern Ireland's largest Cancer charity. They provide care for cancer sufferers and their families, and fund their work with community events, and KWS Alpha have regularly been involved with their events. KWS Alpha entered an 8-man team into Action Cancer's annual 6-aside football tournament in Comber, County Down. The team finished a glorious third in their group table. KWS Alpha will continue to support both Action Cancer and this event.
The Ulster Wildlife Trust is a key stakeholder for KWS Alpha. We have developed an important partnership with the UWT in the creation of a haven for wildlife at Moyola Water Treatment Works. By taking guidance from the UWT, involving a local school and the local community, KWS Alpha transformed an area of wasteland into a thriving area of natural beauty. This was unveiled on 3rd June 2011. KWS Alpha continue to welcome local schools to our facilities, and encourage children to become interested in water treatment.
