Grampian opens the doors! | 30 December 2009 |
Grampian Wastewater Services (GWS) broke new ground by running its first ever corporate open day at Nigg, Aberdeen on 8th December 2009.
The main objective of the day was to make local businesses and authorities more aware of the facilities at Nigg Wastewater Treatment and Sludge Treatment Centre, and to showcase the redevelopment of site offices.
Representatives from both existing and prospective environmental partners were invited to witness the sludge digestion process in action, as well as learn about the potential for importing waste streams. There was also technical expertise on hand from external laboratory, instrumentation and agricultural partners.
The unique configuration of the Nigg site and its capacity to import sludge was demonstrated in the new board room, which was transformed into a theatre for the event. Visitors were then taken on a site tour, focusing on the advanced anaerobic digestion process.
As well as raising awareness of the work of GWS, the day allowed some existing partners to meet in person for the first time and there was a great opportunity throughout for networking.
